- Well, even if technically feasable (AM/FM, etc) to quote president Nixon:
- "It would be wrong".
-
- Legal aircraft radios need to be certified for that use.
-
- Of course, if you have two broken legs and have just crawled out of your

- Don't hold your breath on this. It is unlikely in the extreme that any
- ham 2M (FM) rig can be easily/reasonably modified for AM transmit.
- Adding AM receive is pretty trivial, transmit is not. It's the old
- "open the case, remove the insides, replace with air band radio" story.
- The FT11 certainly will not do this. Unfortunately there's just not
- enough of a market for manufacturers to go to the trouble of making this
- kind of radio, although you're certainly not the first person to ask for
- this.

- This seems like an uncalled-for crack to me. The evidence is that the people
- working to issue amateur radio licenses are working very hard indeed. Based on
- my experiences, I don't think that the federal government is better or worse
- than most other work areas in terms of employee competence and dedication.
- Sure you can find people who do a horrible job, but you can find those in the
- private sector as well. If you look at the technical fields, you easily can
- find people in government who do an excellent job and who have made significant
- contributions as well. Plus they do this in an environment subject to meddling

- limit if you worked in private industry?

-
- For mainland U.S. assignments only:
-
- Spend a few cents to call 717-337-1212 during normal business hours.
- Dial into the phone menu 2 then 7 and a call district to get the
- assignments for that district (then dial 0 to get back to one of the

- District 1 as of 8/1/94: AA1JV, KD1VZ, N1SUN, KB1BJW.

- do a good job on 6 and 2m sideband. Just a decent VXO rig covering the
- bottom part of the band, and maybe 5-10w out.
-
- The ICOM n02 series of rigs was just perfect; about 5w out, VXO, and enough

- Oh, so the public feedback you receive is a statistical anomaly,
- and is therefore easily dismissed.
-
- >a Weller (that's a name brand of a soldering iron, Greg).
-
- ...and everyone who has a concern with your wonderful products must
- have no experience, and is therefore easily dismissed (with perhaps
- a touch of sarcasm, John).

- or quasi-business relationship with you. All of the rhetorical challenges
- in the world won't change that.
-
- Fundamentally, I don't like the way you do business, and I don't like
- the way in which you've reportedly treated some of your customers. I
- don't like your advertising, and I'm unimpressed with your products.

- > You know, I was amazed that I receive not one phone call, I thought

-
- >Greg, I'm sorry I've flamed on like this but it is guys like you
- >who spoil the fun for others, my e-mail doesn't lie. 73, John
-
- Tell that to the kid who's just spent his paper-route money on
- a radio kit that he can't get to work, because it was not as 'EASY'
- as he was told it would be.
